Cambodia CIP Trip 2012


Date: 03 to 09 Nov 2012
Who: 28 Sec 3 Students, 4 Teachers, 1 Coach, 1 Local Guide
Where: Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Objective:  
  • To provide a cross cultural experience for students and to gain knowledge on aspects of culture, livelihood, practices of the community.
  • To inculcate school values of Propriety (礼), Righteousness (义), Integrity (廉), Self Respect (耻) and provide opportunities for character building on values such as compassion, responsibility, self-resilience, and servant leadership to deal with challenges in a tough environment during this service learning trip
  • To provide experiential learning for students to be engaged in the different aspects like planning, project management, etc. for the local community.
What we will be doing:
The learning journey will last for 7 days. On day 1, the group will visit Toul Sleng Genocide Museum and Killing Fields to understand about Cambodia's history in particularly during the Khmer Rouge regime. Day 2 to 5 is the service learning project at the project site. Our students will be painting the T-house and also taking up the role of a teacher to interact and conduct lessons for Cambodian children. On Day 6, there will be historical and cultural visits. On Day 7, the group will return to Singapore.
